Credit cards can be amazing tools to use in your everyday life. A rewards credit card can offer you points towards free travel, a balance transfer card can assist you in getting out of debt and most credit cards have certain perks that can save you a lot of money. Let’s take a look at some of those credit card perks that can save you money.
1. Fraud Protections
Over the past couple of years it’s become widely known that retailers have been having a problem keeping their customers secure information safe. Credit card breaches at some of our countries largest retailers pop up almost every month. While we never want to have our personal information stolen, we should have a little comfort knowing that if you paid with a credit card, most of them offer fraud protection. If your card is stolen and used without your permission then you can dispute the charges and have it credited back to your account.
2. Price Protection
One of my favorite perks is that a lot of card issuers now include price protection. Let’s say you purchase a new Microwave using your credit card and a month later the price drops by $30. Some credit cards will actually credit that $30 difference back to you on your next statement. That sure beats returning the product just to purchase it again at the lower price.
3. Cash Back Savings
There are several credit cards that will offer you cash back on any purchase that you make. What if you could save on every dollar you spend this year? Well, now you can thanks to cash back credit cards. At the end of the holidays, wouldn’t it be nice to get some of that money back? Depending on the card, many offers will give you anywhere from 1% up to 5% for each dollar you spend.
You might not think that 1% is a lot of money, but when you add up how much you spend, it can really come to a large sum. For example, you buy your husband or wife that $300 watch they have always been wanting. At 1% cash back that’s three bucks in your pocket right away. Over time that tiny little 1% could add up to hundreds of dollars in savings.
4. Special Offers for Cardholders
Credit card companies like to do nice things for their customers. This is how they keep them spending money. Multiple Credit Card companies offer their cardholders exclusive offers to save money when they use their specific cards.
5. Extended Warranties
Another great feature that most credit card issuers will offer is an extended warranty on purchases that you make with the card.
6. Travel Benefits
One of my favorite benefits that my credit cards offer me is for travel. Some credit cards come with additional travel perks, such as waived baggage fees, trip cancellation or interruption insurance, and car rental insurance. Most people think of credit cards as a tool that they can use to spend money. When taking advantage of the little perks that come with them, they can actually save you money as well.
